Chandigarh : Haryana Vishwakarma Skill University (HVSU) Vice-Chancellor Raj Nehru on Thursday urged Union Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Minister Dharamender Pradhan for providing a common platform for all skill agencies to explore the joint collaboration for skilling the Indian youth to meet the expected huge demand of skilled workforce at national and international level.
Mr Nehru apprised the Union Minister of various programmes and progress made by HVSU, India’s first government skill university, in less than one year of its existence.
The Vice-Chancellor presented a copy of the University’s vision document to the Union Minister. He also apprised the strategy and future plan of HVSU and its unique dual education model involving active participation from the industry.
Mr Pradhan appreciated the efforts of Mr Raj Nehru, for setting up a new benchmark in the area of skill education. He was of opinion that such universities should be in other states too and the HVSU can become a role model for upcoming projects.
The Minister said that such interactions should be on regular basis.
The Vice-Chancellor also informed about the feeder school concept to provide the alternate vocational education opportunity to the students from class nine onwards. The Union Minister appreciated the concept and directed all stakeholders to explore further in this direction.
