Mizoram : Skill development is one of the priorities in the ongoing “UN Joint Initiative in Mizoram”, Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla said. He called upon four UN agencies – UNIDO, UNDP, ILO and FAO, which are working with the Mizoram Government, to help in manpower planning and skill development.
Representatives of the four UN agencies met Chief Minister to report on their initiatives so far, their plans and vision. The CM thanked the UN agencies for their works in giving training to the farmers, helping in better use of bamboo, in providing skill development to the youth of Mizoram. Mizoram Government will cooperate in every way for the success of the initiatives of the UN team in Mizoram, he said.
PL Thanga, NLUP Implementing Board Vice Chairman informed the Chief Minister that the UN Joint Initiative in Mizoram has within a short time come up with plans for capacity building, skill development, practical training and other works.
The UN agencies said that the UN Joint Initiative in Mizoram is the first of its kind, adding, that if successful, the Mizoram model would be followed in other parts of North East. They also informed that within this month they would discuss their initiatives in the Mizoram with DoNER Secretary.
