Hyderabad: The Telangana State Minorities Finance Corporation will set up a skill development centre on five acre Wakf land near Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA), Shamshabad to offer employment-oriented training and skill development courses to the youth from minority community.
According to TSMFC Chairman Syed Akbar Hussain, plans had been drawn for the project at an estimated cost of around Rs 5 crore. “We have decided to take the Wakf land on lease and construct a multi-purpose building with all required infrastructure including boarding facility for the trainees,” he said.
The minorities finance corporation has been imparting skill development to the minority youth, but in absence of a proper facility and infrastructure of its own, has been relying on private organisations and other government departments to conduct training classes. “We have decided to have our own facility now and the process of creating the infrastructure is being taken up,” he said.
Akbar Hussain said the Chief Minister K Chandershekar Rao had directed them to establish a skill development centre by November 11 which is celebrated as Minority Welfare Day every year on the occasion of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad birth anniversary.
A delegation of officers comprising Telangana government Advisor for Minority Affairs A K Khan, Minority Welfare Secretary Omer Jaleel, Minorities Finance Corporation Managing Director B Shafiullah along with the Chairman Akbar Hussain, on Wednesday inspected the Wakf land near Airport.
The team also visited GMR’s Varalakshmi Foundation Empowerment and Livelihoods Centre at Shamshabad and studied the infrastructure and structure of training programmes which has five skill training modules with placements facilities.
Apart from the regular courses, Finance Corporation also plans to introduce new courses related to the aerospace industry, fashion designing, handicrafts and other technical and professional development courses.
Akbar Hussain said that a separate section with hostel facility for girl trainees would be part of the project and added, “We are will start new courses for women once the new centre is in place.”
