In his opening speech as the new Chairman, Arun Nanda said, “India has a vast talent pool which has great potential given the demographic dividend that the country is experiencing. An NSDC report pegs the need for additional skilled manpower for the industry by 2022 at 6 million. To bridge this skill gap the industry needs to partner with academia in focused skill development initiatives. THSC has developed 63 Qualification Packs to provide employ-ability oriented courses for employment in the industry. It has a network of 150 training organizations to deliver training and prepare manpower for the industry. We are committed to create the required support structure and high standards of service delivery to meet these industry requirements.”
Praveen Roy, CEO, THSC, said, “On behalf of the management team at THSC, I welcome Nanda as our new Chairman and hope that under his guidance we shall achieve many new targets. The organization is devoted to work towards creating new standards and cater to the skills requirements of the various sub-sectors of the industry. Nanda is currently the Chairman of Mahindra Holidays & Resorts India Ltd. and Mahindra Lifespace Developers Ltd. and Director of Holiday Club Resorts Oy, Finland. Apart from this, he holds leadership & advisory roles on the boards of several other companies.
Profile of Arun Nanda: In 2008, he was honoured with an award of “Chevalier de la Legion d’Honneur” (Knight of the National Order of the Legion of Honour) by the President of the French Republic, Nicolas Sarkozy. He was a Member of the Task Force set up by the B20 on Anti Corruption which presented the policy paper to President Sarkozy at the G20 Summit held in Cannes in November 2011 and to President Putin in St. Petersburg in June 2013. Nanda is also Chairman Emeritus of the Indo-French Chamber of Commerce.
