Nagpur : CSIR-National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (CSIR-NEERI) organised a brainstorming session on skill development for green jobs on March 14 to get an insight of major sectors having a green job potential in the country. The technical experts were invited on this occasion to share their views and ideas to strengthen skill development programs at CSIR-NEERI.
Dr. Rakesh Kumar, Director, CSIR-NEERI, Dr. J.S. Pandey, Chief Scientist & Head, Climate Change & Skilling Division (CCSD), Prakash Kumbhare, Sr. Principal Scientist, Dr. Pradeep Salve Principal Scientist, Dr. H.V. Singh, Principal Scientist and Dr. Suvha Lama, Scientist were also present on this occasion.
Arpit Sharma, Head, Assessment and Assurance, Skill Council for Green Jobs (SCGJ), New Delhi said that SCGJ has not much dealt with skill development on waste water treatment. SCGJ would collaborate with CSIR-NEERI to seek technical help, he added. He also assured to extend cooperation in certification of skilling programs being conducted by CSIR-NEERI.

Dr. Anupam Jain, Chairman and Managing Director, Eco-inch Services Pvt. Ltd., New Delhi pointed that there is shortage of skills with respect to green jobs, in particular in the areas of climate change and sustainability. Energy auditing and computer simulation skills have a wide scope in coming years, he said.
Satish Panchal, Managing Director, Vadodara Enviro Channel Ltd., Vadodara briefed about employment opportunities in waste water treatment. ITI pass-outs should be more trained, he added. Dr. Kishore Malviya, Director, SMS Envocare Ltd., Nagpur emphasized on a need to train drivers and helpers who are engaged in handling and transporting waste.
Shailesh Bhagat, Skill Development Employment & Entrepreneurship Guidance Officer stated that CSIR-NEERI can collaborate with Maharashtra State Skill Development Society and Vocational Training Providers (VTPs) to run various skill development programs.
Prashant Adsul, Director, Tesla Innovation Pvt. Ltd., Mumbai described industry requirements in environmental sector.
Arshad Tanvir Khan, President, International Skill Development Society (ISDS) informed that ISDS has designed short-term skill development modules for juvenile homes and looking forward to work with CSIR-NEERI on skill development for green jobs.

Dr. J S Pandey, Chief Scientist & Head, Climate Change &Skilling Division (CCSD) gave an overview of the brainstorming session. Prakash Kumbhare, Sr. Principal Scientist presented the overall skilling activities of CSIR-NEERI. Dr. Pradeep Salve, Principal Scientist; Dr. H.V. Singh, Principal Scientist; and Dr. Suvha Lama, Scientist were involved in organizing this event.
