Skills for Persons with Disability is a very important component under DFID Skills for Jobs programme, under which DFID India is supporting bouquet of interventions in partnership with The Skill Council for Person with Disability (SCPwD) and Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment (MoSJE) through National Institutes. DFID-UK and SCPwD are together organizing first of its kind pilot activities and trainings which will be conducted by experts from National Star College, United Kingdom. These include:
• 26th November 2018: Session on Assistive Technology with demonstration of online and offline tools for PWDs used in UK successfully, Delhi at India Habitat Center.
• 27th, 28th, 29th & 30th November 2018: Top-up Training of Trainers (ToT) Programme, Hyderabad at National Institute for the Empowerment of Persons with Intellectual Disabilities
• 30th November 2018: Session on Assistive Technology with demonstration of online and offline tools for PWDs used in UK successfully, Hyderabad at National Institute for the Empowerment of Persons with Intellectual Disabilities
• 4th, 5th, 6th & 7th December 2018: Top-up Training of Trainers (ToT) Programme, Delhi at India Habitat Center
• 7th & 8th December 2018: Top-up Training of Master Trainers Programme (ToMT) and Valedictory function, Delhi at India Habitat Center
The assistive technology sessions aim to introduce various innovations to India as part of knowledge sharing. This will support in breaking stereotypes, create awareness, building confidence, productivity and improved employment opportunities for Persons with Disabilities in India. The top-up ToT and ToMT are first of their kind trainings in India which will lead to value addition in existing pool of PwD trainers in India. Trainers will receive joint certification from ScPwD and National Star College, UK.
For these events, invited stakeholders are from different ministries such as Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment (MOSJE), National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC). Training providers, employers, relevant NGOs and PwDs are also invited.
DFID intends to test such pilots in India and plans to scale up successful pilots under their Skills for Jobs programme next year.
