FFSC Empowering the Furniture Industry through Skill Development

Delhi : The Furniture and Fittings Skill Council (FFSC) celebrated its 9th Foundation Day with a grand event, showcasing its commitment to building a Skill Culture to drive industry growth through the FFSC #SkillAmbassador Program. Driven by the philosophy of #PowerOfCollaboration, this program remains at the heart of FFSC’s strategy to harness the #PowerOfSkills.

The event highlighted FFSC’s remarkable growth, over last 4 years, expanding its member base from 40+ to 220+, and over 1500+ companies as Skill Ambassadors. Over 200 participants including key industry leaders, government officials, NSDC & NCVET officials, etc. joined the celebration.

Mr. Venkataramana Gorti, Managing Director and Country Head of HOMAG, assumed the role of FFSC Chairperson, while Mr. Nand Kishore Mistry, CEO of Swati Interiors, took charge as the  FFSC Co-chairperson. Mr. Venkataramana Gorti emphasized the importance of industry’s collaborative effort in driving the sector forward.

Mr. Rahul Mehta, CEO of FFSC, highlighted the council’s achievements and its commitment to transforming the industry through skill development. He underscored the transition from Proof of Concept to working models, showcasing the growth of initiatives like the Regional Skill Chapters, Skill Academy Model and Skill Conscious Employer program. In a systematic demand driven approach backed by Skill Gap Study of over 480+ companies, FFSC expanded its Regional Skill Chapters from 8 to 14 this year. Through Public Private Collaboration FFSC also established Centre of Excellences (COE) in Hyderabad and Mumbai regions.

The key highlight of the event was the launch of the Centre of Excellence (COE) in Hyderabad by the Hon’ble Minister of State (I/C), Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Shri Jayant Chaudhary. This COE, established through a unique collaboration between the National Skill Training Institute (NSTI), FFSC, and industry partners, marks a significant advancement in the region’s skill development infrastructure. Smt. Trishaljit Sethi, DG, Directorate General of Training (DGT), emphasized on the importance of such partnerships and assured support for scaling up such initiatives.

The Hon’ble Minister commended FFSC’s unique Skill Ambassadors program and its industry-led cluster-based approach of FFSC Regional Skill Chapters, recognizing their pivotal role in building robust skill ecosystem.

The Hon’ble Minister also launched the FFSC’s “One Nation One Industry – Grow with the #PowerOfSkills” campaign, aimed at further expanding its skill development model and establishing sustainable Regional Skill Chapters across the country, to promote FFSC’s vision of a skilled and innovative furniture and interior sector industry.
