Jaipur : In order to promote trades in solar power, green businesses and water management, the Rajasthan state government has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Skill Council for Green Jobs to promote trades in solar power, green businesses and water management. Besides training youths in these sectors, 16 more trades will be added soon.
National Occupational Standards (NOS) are being developed in Rajasthan for sectors such as renewable energy, green construction and water management, with an emphasis on skill development of youths.
The move will help in environment protection, control of greenhouse gas emissions, reduction of waste and pollution, restoration of ecosystem and adaptation to the effects of climate change.
The MoU will include curriculum alignment with NOS and assessment and certification of trainees. Rajasthan Skill and Livelihoods Development Corporation managing director Krishna Kunal told The Hindu that the development of NOS assumes significance in view of paucity of water in Rajasthan and issues related to proper water outflow in the absence of continuing river flow.
The council will also approve the curriculum for training and will execute “training of trainers” programmes, besides accrediting training institutes. Trades related to water conservation and treatment will get high priority under the MoU, he added.
Mr. Kunal said the upcoming skill universities in the State will also have a Green Sector Centre of Excellence, while another such centre will be established for solar and advanced electrical solar energy.
