Jalandhar : Under the ‘Skill India campaign’ programme of National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), IK Gujral Punjab Technical University (IKGPTU) students will get certification from Skill Council.
The university has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Tourism and Hospitality Skill Council (THSC), Gurugram (Haryana) in this regard. (Dr) Ajay Kumar Sharma, Vice Chancellor, IKGPTU, presided over the ceremony. The pupose behind signing the MoU is to develop skilled manpower by the industry.
On behalf of THSC, Dr Sunita Badhwar, Head Standers, signed the MoU. From the side of IKGPTU Dr Sukhbir Singh Walia, Registrar, signed the MoU.

During the ceremony, VC Prof (Dr) Sharma said: “The MoU shall establish a new skilled education era in the history of the state by serving well-educated, certified and skilled manpower to the tourism and hospitality industry.” Vice-Chancellor Prof (Dr) Sharma congratulated the academic department of the university for taking the initiative.
Deputy registrar, college development, Dr Ekonkar Singh Johal said: “The B.Voc. courses shall offer multiple entries and multiple exits to admitted students. The students of these courses shall get diploma certificates after the completion of one year, and after completing two years, students shall achieve advanced diploma certificates”.
