The Indian Rubber Institute will act as a bridge between the industry and academia for the sharing of knowledge and will help SJCE interact with rubber-related associations.
One project of the proposed centre will be to use the facilities created for the skill development of people from rubber and the allied industries.
It will also the nodal centre in south India for skill development in the rubber sector under the Prime Minister Kaushal Vikas Yojana(PMKVY).
According to one estimate, the rubber industry requires about 75,000 skilled technicians per year in the next 10 years. The centre plans to train initially 1,000 candidates per year and subsequently increase to 2,000 per year. This will help SJCE becoming a nodal center in Karnataka for vocational training for Rubber and Allied Industries.
