In a bid to empower youth for gainful employment, Haryana Government has set a target for providing skill training to about 13,000 youth upto September 30 this year. The state Urban Local Bodies Minister Kavita Jain presided over the meeting of National Urban Livelihood Mission (NULM) in this regard on Wednesday.
Kavita Jain said State Government aims is to impart skill training to youth of rural areas and the poor youth of urban areas so as to make them self reliant. The Minister directed the concerned officers to follow the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi which is to develop skills of even those youth who are less educated so as to enable them to set up self-employment ventures or get employment in other sectors. NULM launched by the Central Government aims at enhancing the socio-economic status of the poor youth.
She said that a target has been fixed for providing skill training to about 13,000 youth upto September 30 and directed the officers to achieve the target within the stipulated period.
Under the Haryana Skill Development Mission (HSDM), the State Government has already set a target to provide skill training to 21,000 youths at a cost of Rs 25 crore in the year 2016-17. So far, more than 80,000 persons in Haryana have been imparted skill development training during 2015-16.
The Minister said that for poverty alleviation mission in urban areas, Andhra Pradesh Government has agreed to associate with Haryana as Resource Organisation for the formation of Self Help Groups under Social Mobilization and Institutional Development (SMID) component of NULM. Referring to the problems coming before the beneficiaries under this for getting loans, she said that district and state level meetings should be held from time to time with bankers to discuss the issues.
