Jamshedpur (Jharkhand) : Inspired from Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Skill India programme, Motilal Nehru Public School ( MNPS) organized a Skill Fest to test the skill of students. More than 500 students from classes IV to XII participated in the fest organized at the school campus in Bistupur.
As part of the event, students of class XI were given five sets of junked computers comprising a monitor, CPU and keyboard, which they had to use to create science models.
The junior students from classes IV and V also participated in this competition under a different category where they made models on lungs, respiratory system and how oxygen is essential to burn something.
Students of classes VIII, IX and X participated in masterchef where they had to make preparations like salads. They also participated in a contest titled ‘Design for Change’ where they had to explain their given topics by drawing a flow chart.
Ashu Tiwary, principal of Motilal Nehru Public School said that the idea was to help students use their skills to come with their own innovative idea. “This is the first of its kind fest we have to promote skills. This is something beyond education but helpful in longer run,” she said.
