The centre, first-of-its kind in north coastal Andhra Pradesh, is expected to improve employment prospects of students of the region and enhance industry-academia partnership. It will be open not only to the students of Andhra University but also other colleges of the region.

While students of the varsity will be offered free training, students of other colleges will have to pay a nominal charge. Students trained at the centre will be given a certificate.

Andhra University vice chancellor Professor G Nageswara Rao told that “Siemens Centre of Excellence will equip students with the required competencies to suit industry needs and expectations. The students will get hands-on training in manufacturing and other industrial domains”.

The varsity has tied up Siemens and Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation to set up the centre.
