Discusses modalities with officials
The meeting discussed about the age limit, time limit, educational qualifications and other grounds for implementing the scheme. Naidu said that a final decision on modalities will be taken after collecting the complete data about the youth in the State.
While asking the officials to prepare a concrete plan on unemployment relief which should be a model scheme for other States, Naidu said it is for the first time in the country where the scheme will be implemented on a large-scale.
He asked them to collect information from employment exchanges, smart pulse survey, Skill Development Corporation and various universities and prepare a detailed data of unemployed youth in the State. He directed the officials to prepare separate lists on the beneficiaries of various government schemes, those who took skill training through government funding and those who are pursuing higher studies abroad.
He suggested conducting a study on the modalities being implemented in other countries for the welfare of unemployed youth. He said that the scheme should not be confined only to providing financial relief but also the youth should get assistance for taking up self-employment and skill development training programmes.
The Ministers opined that there should be accountability during the implementation of the scheme as hundreds of crores of rupees are to be spent. They said that the rules should be framed under the scheme where the beneficiaries should work for the welfare of the society in return.
The Chief Minister suggested convening another meeting after two weeks to review further progress on the scheme. Ministers Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, Nara Lokesh, K Kala Venkata Rao, Pithani Satyanarayana, Kollu Ravindra, P Narayana, Chief Secretary Dinesh Kumar and other officials were present.
