Andhra students to get skill training from UK institution, APSSDC signed MoU with Health Education England

Amravati : In order to boost the career prospects of the nursing students in the state, Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC) has roped in a prestigious institute from England, UK Health Education England (HEE) to provide the necessary training to the students.

Students from both government and private nursing colleges will be provided necessary training in clearing the screening test like International English Language Testing System (IELTS) in the first stage and NMC Part-1 and Part-2 in the next stages.

APSSDC signed an MoU with UK HEE in the presence UK deputy high commissioner Andrew Fleming, SSDC chairman Challa Madhusudan Reddy here on Wednesday. Senior officials JSV Prasad, Udayalakshmi and others were present.

As per the agreement, APSSDC will set up a language lab to train nursing students from the second year onwards. A team of officials from HEE will oversee the training programme. Meanwhile, Overseas Manpower Company of Andhra Pradesh (OMCAP) would take care of visa processing and the process of sending the students UK. Speaking to the media, UK deputy high commissioner Andhra Fleming said that nursing students particularly from Kerala and AP were highly skilled and sought after in reputed international healthcare institutions. He said that SSDC’s decision to impart required skills to the students would help them bag jobs and lucrative careers abroad. SSDC chairman Madhusudan Reddy said that chief minister Jaganmohan Reddy is keen to make the state a hub of fully skilled and talented youth. He said that providing skill development training would make the youth job ready and help industry pick up them.

SSDC CEO Arja Srikanth said that they would provide training to 100-students in the first spell. He said that they have targeted to provide skill development training to about 1500 students in the current fiscal. He said that at least 20 students would travel to UK shortly after completion of the training in next three months.
