Vijayawada : Accounting software Tally will be inking an MoU with the Andhra Pradesh government to train over 20,000 students across Andhra Pradesh this fiscal.
Speaking to The Hindu over phone, Tally Education Pvt Ltd. CEO Manish Chowdhary said, “We are signing an MoU with government of AP on Monday for the training and joint certification of students in over 400 colleges. The trend is that more and more non-commerce graduates are seeking training for Tally.” The AP Skill Development Corporation (APSDC) has created required infrastructure in colleges to facilitate the software training, according to him.
Post tie-up, Tally will be installed and training will be provided in the colleges in the smart clusters created by the APSSDC. Andhra Pradesh will be the first State in the country to implement such a training module.
At present, the company is providing training and services to other States and is exploring opportunities to reduplicate AP model across India. After the training, Tally’s internal job portals, which provide access to employment opportunities for trained students, will open up multiple options for students across geographies within and outside India, Mr. Manish claimed.
Shortage of personnel
The accounting software has over 85% market share in the segment and Tally claims one out of seven jobs in financial segment, Mr. Manish claimed.
“In all, over 80 lakh people are earning livelihood based on Tally and the demand is growing after the Goods and Services Tax came into vogue. With more companies becoming GST compliant, we see high demand for services and low availability of trained resources,” he said. The company is visualising a 300% growth in services this fiscal.
Tally Education has already tied up with several educational institutions and universities to facilitate change in accounting structure and customizing GST. Faculty members of universities such as Osmania are being trained for the transition. We are facilitating the change,” the CEO said.
