Chennai : Faculty and students of 550 Anna University-affiliated colleges in the state will be part of a skill-training programme next month. In light of the ever-increasing need for engineering graduates to meet dynamic industry needs, the ‘Consortium of self-financing professional, arts and science colleges’ will be bringing together several education entities to facilitate this programme. The 3-day training will be conducted across five regions – Chennai, Trichy, Coimbatore, Madurai and Nagercoil.
The ‘Domain specification programme’ for students will have soft-skill trainers and industry experts from companies like Wipro, Cognizant technologies, Infosys etc training students while the faculty training will happen in two phases – for teachers with less than 5 years experience, and for teachers with 5-10 years experience. They will be trained by members of NITTTR (National Institute Of Technical Teachers Training And Research), industry experts, IIT professors, other academicians.
An ‘educational-roadshow’ will also be conducted along with the organization SPEED (Student Platform for Engineering Education Development) in the five zones. The programme will brief parents and school students on the merits of engineering education.
