Tawang : The Department of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (SD&E) is all set to change the unemployment scenario of the state with many innovative skill development training programmes designed to facilitate training, skilling and providing employment to educated unemployed youth of the state, said Parliamentary Secretary for Skill Development & Entrepreneurship Jambey Tashi here on Sunday.
Addressing the ‘Skill Development, Sensitization, Motivation and Trainees Selection Rally-2018’ at the general parade ground here, Jambey informed that the department would implement the Prime Minister’s Kaushal Vikas Yojna (PMKVY) from this month, wherein 87,000 unemployed youths would be provided skill development training with guaranteed jobs.
The SD&E department would also soon go for ‘High-end skill development training’ so that youth can fetch higher salaries after their formal training.
He further informed that training will be provided in traditional arts and crafts with the twin objectives of reviving the traditional arts and generating self-employments to rural youth.
Highlighting the yeomen services of the Industrial Training Institutes (ITI’s) in imparting vocational training to the youth, Jambey informed that the state has five existing ITIs, while four new ITIs will start functioning from this year and another five are in the pipeline.
The SD&E would also soon start ‘Rural Skill Development Training Centres’ in rural areas under PPP mode to train the rural youth.
The ongoing month-long skill development sensitization, motivation and trainees selection rallies all over the state, which started at Itanagar on 29 January, would culminate at Seppa on 8 March, said the Parliamentary Secretary.
Highlighting the aims and objectives of the rallies, Director SD&E Subu Tabin appealed to the unemployed youth to avail the flagship programme of both the centre and the state to get skilled, jobs and generate income.
He informed that the upcoming training programmes ranging from six to one year would be all free-of-cost and the entire cost of training, travel, boarding and lodging would be borne by the state government.
He further informed that at least 70 percent of the trainees on successful completion of their training would be given jobs in private sectors.
Informing that many ‘Recognition of Prior Learning’ (RPL) would also soon be kick started throughout the state, Tabin announced that an RPL would be conducted at the Textiles and Handloom sector at Tawang, under which individuals with prior learning experience or skills would be assessed and certified, while also aiming to align the competencies of the unregulated workforce of the country to the National Qualification Framework.
More than 400 candidates enrolled for the rally at Tawang, while eight training providers from Hyderabad, Greater Noida, Itanagar, Bhopal and Delhi participated with as many as 24 trades to be chosen by the trainees.
Among others, the rally was attended by the trainees, all heads of departments of Tawang, including the DC and the SP, Panchayat leaders and curious public.
