Itanagar : Member of Parliament Ninong Ering underscored the importance of comprehensive skill mapping of each state under Skill Development Programme.
Raising supplementary question in the Parliament on Skill Development in North Eastern Region, Ering said it is still unclear what type of skill will be developed in youths under this programme.
“Skill mapping encompasses the harnessing of traditional knowledge of a particular area and developing it into a skill which can be redesigned as a source of employment. Such skill mapping would ensure meaningful employment of the local youths, preventing them from migrating to urban areas, Ering said.
He questioned whether the government is planning for skill mapping of different regions.
