Itanagar : Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (SDE) Minister Tumke Bagra reviewed the progress made by the training providers under the Arunachal Pradesh Skill Development Mission, here on Friday.
Addressing the training providers, the minister asked them to “provide training in a holistic way to transform the youths and make them employable,” and reiterated the importance of proper placement of the trained youths.
Bagra also held an internal review meeting with the principals of various Industrial Training Institutes (ITI) of the state, and advised them to establish dedicated placement cells. He also advised his department to prepare a detailed proposal for setting up a national skill training institute and a kaushal bhavan in the state.
Bagra said he would take up the matter of creating new posts in his department in the cabinet meeting.
SDE Secretary NT Glow urged the training providers to “enhance their performance and bring Arunachal at par with the best performing states in the country.” He gave assurance that the state government would extend all required support to achieve the common goal of skilling the youths and making them employable.
Earlier, SDE Director Subu Tabin highlighted the progress of various schemes implemented by the department. He informed that “Arunachal has received special appreciation from the Centre regarding the quality of the training programmes carried out in the state.”
Highlighting the challenges faced by the state, he expressed concern over placement and retention of the state’s youths in jobs outside the state.
Representatives of four training providers, Access Edutech, Orion Edutech, Space Miracle, and Jarbom Gamlin Skill Training Institute, enumerated their activities and success stories. Access Edutech informed that it has started a call centre in Itanagar to provide the youths with an opportunity to work within the state.
Among others, officials of the SDE department, principals of ITIs, and representatives of the training providers attended the meeting.
