Assam Skill Development Mission held first Governing Council meeting, took various major decisions

Guwahati (Assam) : In a related development, the state government decided to set up Multi Skill Development Centres at Majuli, Dibrugrah, Nalbari, Silchar, Biswanath, Diphu, Dhubri, Nagaon and Kokrajhar.

A decision in this effect was reached at the first Governing Council meeting of Assam Skill Development Mission.

Employment Generation Mission would also be integrated with Assam Skill Development Mission (ASDM) developing skills in 1.5 lakh youths in vocations like hospitality, tourism, horticulture and floriculture, electronic and construction in the financial year 2017-18, an official release said.

For this, ASDM has signed an MoU with Institute of Technical Education, Singapore, to set up an institute in Assam, and has proposed to enter into MoUs with Skill Development Schools of South Korea, Japan and Taiwan.

ASDM has also proposed to build a Skill City with different categories of Skill Development Schools, besides opening a Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Kendra in all the districts to create employment avenues, the release said.

The chief minister, chairing the Governing Council meeting, also asked the ASDM to prepare the youths for expanding their employability outside the State as well as country.
