Guwahati : The Assam Skill Development Mission (ASDM) organised a workshop with industry and training partners at Assam Administrative Staff College in Khanapara, Guwahati. The workshop focused on sectors like beauty and wellness, tourism and hospitality and retail.
ASDM, which has tied up with Institute of Technical Education (ITE), Singapore, roped in two faculty members from the institute who imparted training to 30 master trainers in Guwahati for a period of four weeks in areas like housekeeping, food and beverages, beauty and wellness and retail services. “The master trainers will shortly be sent to Singapore to acquire advancing hands-on training in these sectors,” an official statement said.
Delivering the valedictory address, skill employment and entrepreneurship minister, Chandra Mohan Patowary said, “Just like Charles Darwin’s evolutionary theory of survival of the fittest, only skill can make a person sustain in current times, and not just formal education.”
The minister added that the Assam government has signed a MoU with Singapore as it is an exemplary leader of skill development in the world. “We are connected with the South-East Asian nations historically and culturally. By this tie-up, both Assam and Singapore have come closer to each other,” he said.
