AWWA plans to introduce skill-imparting courses for Veer Naris

Lucknow : In a bid to empower the Veer Naris/ Widows/ dependants and make them economically independent, Army Wives Welfare Association (AWWA), Central Command in collaboration with FICCI (FLO) will be introducing a number of courses at Surya Vocational Training Centre (SVTC), Lucknow.

On Thursday, Radhika Ravindran, officiating president, AWWA, Central Command launched jute handicrafts course at the SVTC, Lucknow which will impart skills to students in making of jute products. Many more courses like, driving, e-commerce, herbal gardening, cooking etc. will also be undertaken in collaboration with FICCI (FLO).

All the courses are government-aided and hence free/subsidized. Being recognised courses, the certificates given to the students will be issued by government agencies. This will go a long way in women empowerment and making them entrepreneurs.

FICCI Ladies Organisation (FLO) is the women’s wing of Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI). For last 32 years, it has been promoting entrepreneurship and professional training.
