Mumbai : Pune-based Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Research &Training Institute (BARTI) plans to skill and employ over 5,000 youth in the next two years from the weaker section of society who are school drop-outs.
Talking to The Free Press Journal, BARTI Director General Rajesh F Dhabre said, “From 2015 to 2016, we skilled 2,600 youths from the weaker section. We plan to take it even further. In the next two years (2017 and 2018), we aim to skill around 5,000 youths.” Currently, BARTI is training 300 youths through their online program. The institute is also mulling over running a program that will involve active participation from corporates. As per the program, the companies will be paid for training youths. The trained youths can be employed by the companies based on their requirements.
“In this program, we will pay Rs 10,000 to Rs 20,000 per month to the companies as training cost. We will pay the youth who is undergoing a training a stipend of Rs 4,000 per month,” Dhabre said.
