Patna : The state government would demand Rs4,815 crore from the 15th Finance Commission for the skill development training of 40 lakh youths of the state during 2020-2025 period, deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi said on Sunday.
Speaking at a programme organized by the state labour resources department in collaboration with Bihar Skill Development Mission (BSDM) on World Youth Skills Day, he said, “We are focusing on skill development in Bihar so that youngsters can prepare for overseas jobs. The state government has recently made two-year course from any Industrial Training Institute (ITI) equivalent to Class X and XII after qualifying the English and Hindi examination in respective standard so that students can join a degree course directly.”
Sushil Modi said there were total 1,602 Kushal Yuva Program (KYP) centres in all the 38 districts of Bihar. “Over 3.6 lakh out of the 8.3 lakh registered participants have received training under this program. KYP, one of the BSDM’s flagship schemes, also bagged the prestigious SKOCH’s ‘Order of Merit Award’ this year and was also adjudged for ‘SKOCH award gold for skill development’, among the various participating organizations at the summit.”
Addressing the gathering, governor Satya Pal Malik asked principal secretaries of various departments to conduct a survey across the state and chart out the demands of market. “We can understand the necessity of the geographical area and provide training of the respective skills based on the market assessment data. This will be a value addition to the ongoing KYP,” he said.
Labor resources department minister Vijay Kumar Sinha said, “We have organized various inspection drives to unearth fake ITIs running across the state. We see the quality of infrastructure, the trainers that should be there as per the guidelines and when it is not there, ITIs are de-affiliated.”
