Bollywood director Nitin Desai to train unemployed youth for film related trades, signed MoU with Government

Mumbai :  Maharashtra government today signed an agreement with noted art director Nitin Desai, to train unemployed youth in various film and stage related trades. The MoU, was signed between state governments Skill Development department and Nitin Desai Art World Pvt Ltd, in presence of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Skill Development minister Sambhaji Patil Nilangekar.

According to the MoU, Desai will provide requisite infrastructure for training and will also facilitate the expertise, tools and machinery during on-the-job training, an official from the Skill Development department said. He said through this venture, the government aims to train around 6,000 candidates in the next three years.

The courses will include film and stage related trades ranging from film editing, art direction, carpentry, and masonry to various others, the official added.

“Nitin Desai is a well-known name in the film industry and we are glad to be associated with his institute to train the youth of Maharashtra,” Nilangekar said. “We have worked together on this concept on the lines of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s system of bara balutedar where each of the skills was given its importance and these skilled men use to get the due recognition in the society.

“With changing times we have identified new trades that are in demand and we are training the youth based on the current demand in the market,” Nilangekar added.

According to the official, the costs for such training will be borne by Maharashtra State Skill Development Society and the industry partner.

The MoU also mentions that the aim of the program is to generate employment, hence the industry partner shall facilitate placements to candidates post training and certification.

Nilangekar further said the government is ensuring placements as employment is the government’s ultimate goal and the industry partner will ensure to provide placement to at least 75 percent candidates by giving them employment or ensuring that they are placed with other industries in a period of next three months.

The courses shall be as per the National Skill Qualification Framework (NSQF) or tailor made to the industry partners need. The certification of the candidates would be done by authorities such as NCVT, SSCs.
