Chandigarh Skill Development Mission and Dept. of IT launched Chandigarh’s first first PMKVY centre

Chandigarh : In sync with the vision of Government of India, Chandigarh Skill Development Mission (CSDM) in association with Department of Information Technology launched its first Pardhan Mantri Kausual Vikas Yojna (PMKVY) Centre of Chandigarh in EDC Building in Chandigarh Technology Park today under PMKVY scheme which is a flagship skill development program of Government. The centre was inaugurated by Arjun Sharma, Director Information Technology, Chandigarh administration in the presence of senior officials of Chandigarh administration with launch of its first batch of PMKVY trainees.

On this occasion Arjun Sharma, Director Information Technology interacted with trainees and highlighted the benefits of the PMKVY courses and encouraged them to take the course seriously. He also assured that placement assistant would be provided to all trainees on the completion of their training. He further said that this initiative will bridge the gap between skilled manpower requirement and availability of skilled manpower.

SPIC Centre of Excellence will be operating the training partner under Skill India which is located in the EDC building built on 1.5-acre plot in the heart of Chandigarh Technology Park which is hub of IT industries.

This is a first start of the Art PMKVY Centre in the region which will offer all the ultramodern amenities like, spacious smart classrooms, plush seminar hall and conference room to the trainees registered under PMKVY and SPIC playing pivotal role in implementation of e-governance, creating talent pool for IT industry and promoting IT, this centre will only cater to the IT training under PMKVY. This centre will offer training in Data Entry Operator, CRM domestic (Non-Voice) and Junior Software Developer courses to the trainees which are industry driven courses with focus on employment and to create aspirational value for skill development training. The centre will provide free of cost IT skill training to the students passing out from schools, school dropouts, unemployed youth, women and other disadvantaged groups. Training aspirants can register themselves for skill training under PMKVY at www.utcsdm.org portal.

After the completion of the training, centre would link the aptitude, aspiration, and knowledge of the skilled trainee it creates with employment opportunities and demands in the market. Every effort thereby needs to be made by the PMKVY training centre to provide placement opportunities to candidates, trained and certified under the Scheme.

Chandigarh Skill Development Mission has been set up by Department of Technical Education, Chandigarh administration in line with National Skill Development Mission and guidelines issued by Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship will play a key role in formulating and steer various skill development schemes. The Mission will bring necessary synergy, oversight and effective coordination in the implementation of various skill development schemes across departments.
