Chandigarh: To empower women employees, Chandigarh Municipal corporation has launched a unique skill training programme for women safai mitras, door-to- door waste collectors, toilet cleaners and B&R workers to augment their income and provide them opportunities to start alternative careers. Mayor Anup Gupta said that a 360-hour special skill training course for a batch of 40 women safai mitras has been launched on International Women’s Day. MC commissioner Anindita Mitra and mission director, National Livlihood Mission, said that ther ere a large number of women safai mitras with the MC.
