Amravati : Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) is focusing on three areas in Andhra Pradesh – skill development, nurturing of entrepreneurial spirit among the youth and enabling the existing units, especially the small-scale and micro units, to survive in the fiercely competitive market.
CII-AP vice-chairman R.V.S. Raju, Vizag zone chairman D.T. Raju and vice- chairman G. Muralikrishna said that skill development was of the utmost importance and the CII was setting up a Centre of Excellence (CoE) for skill development at Amaravati.
They said the State government was making earnest efforts to woo investors during the past three years, after bifurcation and 2014 election, but it would take some time for the efforts to bear fruit.
“It is equally important to help the existing units, especially the small and micro ones, as to set up new ones,” he said.
The CII will lend a helping hand to such units, Mr. Raju said and hoped that Visakhapatnam would soon become a hub for SMEs to make spares and components for the defence sector.
