District Educational Officer stresses need for skill-based education

Srikakulam (Andhra Pradesh) : District Educational Officer (DEO) D Devananda Reddy stressed on the need for skill-based education. He along with Sarva Siksha Abhiyan project officer S Trinadha Rao was present at a district-level workshop held here on Friday. Education department officials stated that it essential for students to have skill based education.

The workshop focused on education and skill development strategy for AP. Sarva Siksha Abhiyaan (SSA) and education department officials jointly conducted the work shop to prepare a policy draft on skill based education. Digital teaching, smart class rooms, physical literacy, extracurricular activities, joyful learning at pre-primary and primary levels, inculcation of life skills, career guidance at secondary level, skill based curriculum, vocational education, choice based education are a few important factors.

Basing on students different interests and strengthening of teacher resource centers have discussed all important factors with deputy DEOs, MEOs, head masters, senior teachers and subject experts in the work shop and prepare a report on it,” the DEO said.Special officer of SSA, Srinivas told that the government was planning to curb unemployment by introducing skill, career and vocational oriented education system.
