In a bid to make Employment Exchanges more relevant and turn them a powerful link between employer and employee, the Labour Department has decided to turn them as Career Development Centres. Department has said that these centres will provide career counseling services to secondary and higher secondary pass-out students so that they would choose best of the careers for them.
Labour, Employment, Training and Skill Development Minister Raj Paliwar appealed to all newly appointed officers of Labour and Employment Departments earlier in the day to make themselves a part of change and development which Jharkhand has been trying to go through. The Minister distributed appointment letters to 24 officials in Employment Department and 20 officers in Labour Department on Friday, all recommended by the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC).
“The Government has been running a bunch of projects for the poor and labourers. It is all responsibility of yours to execute them successfully. The government will run skill development programmes for youth of the State, so that they become employable in the industries waiting to come to Jharkhand,” said Paliwar. He also referred to the efforts made by CM Raghubar Das during recent days to attract investments in Jharkhand and said that the CM was planning for even an overseas visit soon to attract and invite global investors to Jharkhand.
Principal Secretary of Labour Department SKG Rahate said, “There are 43 Employment Exchanges functional in the State under which 1,350 employers and over 3.9 Lakh employees are registered. The Exchanges will now function as career counseling centres, so that government is able to manage demand-supply gap. There are 32 newly build ITI Institutions for which 960 teachers will be recruited.”
However, Paliwar said that reviving Exchanges will be a herculean task, as all of them were suffering badly at the front of infrastructure. But he assured of every possible step for revival this interface.
