New Delhi : Global specialist in energy management and automation Schneider Electric India has signed an MoU with Kalinga Institute of Technology (KIIT) and CV Raman college of engineering in Odisha to develop skilled manpower for the highly-technical electricity.
Going by this trend, nearly half of the workforce in the IT sector is expected to be redundant over the next three to four years and would need to be retrained and re-skilled, according to a report from Mckinsey and Company.
One of the solutions highlighted by Mckinsey to turn this around is to invest in building new capabilities and re-skilling employees with emerging technologies.
Both KIIT and C V Raman college of Engineering have already set up an Industry Incubation Centre under guidance from Schneider Electric to impart industrial training to engineering students that will help create a large reservoir of highly qualified manpower in all fields related to electricity, automation and energy management.
Extending this collaboration further, Schneider has now signed an MoU with these institutes to understand and prepare joint operations so as to meet milestones in establishing industry academic relations. As part of the MoU, both the Institutes and Schneider Electric will encourage interactions between the Engineers, Research fellows, faculty members and students of both the organizations.
“This MoU is in line with our vision to develop a globally competitive talent pool in India, armed with futuristic skill-sets aligned to the requirements of the fast evolving sectors like energy management and automation. With a deep understanding of the changing skills requirement of the industry, Schneider Electric is committed to support India in its human resources capability building initiative. Through these strategic partnerships, we aim to deliver the best of the training and skill development to accelerate transformation into the new-age opportunities in the energy sector,” said Chief Human Resources Officer Schneider Electric India, Rachna Mukherjee.
Under the MoU, Schneider Electric will recognize the Institutes as an “Training and Education Partner”, supply lab equipment, assist the institutes in establishing and improvising world-class infrastructure pertaining to electrical, automation, energy management and Renewable Energy and its associated areas and assist in designing the layout of all labs/workshops that are required to deliver practical’s and project assistance.
Schneider Electric and the institutes will also jointly design course curriculum and course content surpassing growing industry demand in all segments of electricity, automation and energy management. In addition, Schneider Electric will assist in making contact of the institutes with the French Ministry of Education for discussions and engagements for international exchange of students and teaching staff between the institutes and similar Technical schools in France.
