Ahmedabad : Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII) has announced its collaboration with the University of East London (UEL) to promote social entrepreneurship education in India. The primary objective of the collaboration is to mainstream social entrepreneurship education in India through sensitization, awareness, discussions and deliberations.
Sunil Shukla, Director, EDII, said: “The programme seeks to inject enthusiasm and competency for social entrepreneurship education. This is supported by the British Council, New Delhi, under their aegis of Social Enterprise Education Programme (SEEP), a significant initiative by the Council in facilitating social entrepreneurship education in India”.
Andre Mostert of University of East London said: “EDI and UEL have formed a partnership to develop an internationally accredited qualifications framework to support social enterprise across India. The Advanced Award in Social Enterprise will be launched in January 2017, which will give budding business and social entrepreneurs a pathway to gain those essential businesses and social skills to bring their ideas to fruition.”
The institute is planning a two-year distance education programme in social entrepreneurship for imparting knowledge, education and skills to set up social enterprises.
Under the Udyamita project of Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, the institute will also promote social entrepreneurship to facilitate inclusive and holistic growth of the local economy.
