Ranchi (Jharkhand) : Chief Minister Raghubar Das here on Thursday said that the state government was committed to empower the youths of Jharkhand with job-oriented skills by making optimum utilization of a dedicated fund for this purpose.
He said the state government had increased the budgetary allocation for skill development from Rs 145 crore to Rs 700 crore. He said that 13.84 per cent of the total budgetary allocations would be spent on higher education and skill development.
Das, who addressed the Mega Rojgar Mela organized today under the aegis of the Higher Technical Education and Skill Development Department of the Government of Jharkhand and Ranchi University, said the state government had set up an Education Guarantee Fund of Rs 50 crore. The fund will ensure that the education of children is not hampered in want of financial assistance.
“Talented but financially backward students will be provided assistance under the Chief Minister’s Fellowship Scheme. The cost of their admission in higher academic institutions will be borne under this scheme,” said the CM.
Das maintained that faulty education system had caused many a deformations in the society. “The state government has taken the initiative to create a trained human workforce in the state to meet the requirements of the modern times.
It is providing job-oriented skill training to the youths. Besides job skill training, moral education is also must for the youths. Parents send their wards to schools and colleges to make them better individuals.
The children too, have the duty to make their parents’ dream come true through hard work. They can do this by preparing a strategy and chalk out advance plans,” he said.
The CM said the state government was going to provide quality skill training to youths of the state from internationally renowned institutions such as Oracle, Siemens and Cisco.
“The government wants to ensure that our children do not go outside Jharkhand in search of employment. We are going to organize Momentum Jharkhand on 16th and 17th February. The government will sign MoUs during this programme and implement them within next six months,” he said.
The CM said that the fate of thousands of youths of Jharkhand would have been better in case the domicile policy had been formulated earlier. He said now the government had defined the domicile policy as a result of which youths had started getting jobs in the state.
The CM handed over appointment letters to five students on the occasion and wished them success for future. He said such programmes should be organized in other universities of the state.
Among other dignitaries present on the occasion included Kanke MLA Dr Jeetu Charan ram, Development Commissioner Amit Khare and Higher Education Secretary Ajay Kumar Singh.
