Hamirpur : Industries Minister Bikram Thakur said the government is committed to generating job opportunities in the state and the youth would be imparted job-oriented skill development training. He was addressing a gathering after inaugurating the first in-campus academic session of Himachal Pradesh Technical University (HPTU) here.
He said the campus of the university would be completed in the current financial year. The minister said the curriculum of technical courses would be industry-based. He said the university was committed to adopting the standards of highest quality to attract students from abroad as well.
He said the university management had been advised to organise job fairs on a regular basis to help students get placement in renowned companies. MLA Narender Thakur said the university was another milestone in the development of the district. He said every help would be extended to the university for its speedy growth.
“I am open to the ideas for the development of Hamirpur and my priorities are to make the district a model,” the MLA added.
MP Anurag Thakur university students must be given industrial exposure to enable them to understand the demands of the industry and make them employable there. Vice-Chancellor SP Bansal said the university would focus on quality education. He said a sports academy and a skill development centre would also be established.
