HPTU to start skill development centres in its affiliated colleges

Hamirpur : Himachal Pradesh Technical University (HPTU) will start skill development centres in its affiliated colleges. A decision was taken at a meeting of the Board of Governors yesterday. Dr SP Bansal, Vice-Chancellor of the HPTU, said the decision would help thousands of students get jobs as training in 30 disciplines would be imparted in the centres.

The board had also given relief to teachers working on ad hoc basis as it was decided that the services of such teachers would be continued for one more semester.

Dr Bansal said the university would have one more dean in the university as the governing body had sanction one more post of dean. The three proposed chair’s of study, Atal Bihari Vajpayee Chair, Mahatma Gandhi Chair and Dr BR Ambedkar Chair, were approved by the body. The university would also take initiative to improve the quality of education and standards of technical training.
