Tangmarg : Aimed at imparting lifesaving skills in case of emergencies to save more lives, Directorate of Health Services Kashmir (DHSK) has started a First Responder (FR) Training under the initiative ‘Skill for life, Save a life’ for masses on Sunday at Kashmir Skills & Simulation Centre (KSSC), Regional Institute of Health & Family Welfare (RIHFW), Dhobiwan Tangmarg.
DHSK, in collaboration with All-India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) faculty, is starting first responder training under the initiative ‘Skill for life, Save a life’ launched by Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, (MoHFW) Government of India (GoI).
To empower citizens to be the first person to provide pre-hospital care, MoHFW introduced FR training that will impart first aid and primary care skills that can save lives in case of an emergencies or accidents.
Dr. Saleem Ur Rehman, Director Health Services, Kashmir inaugurated the training. He said that such training programmes are the need of the hour and will help to save more lives.
Emphasizing the significance of equipping common masses with such skills, he said that there is a dire need of involvement of other stakeholders to build up skilled trainers under the professional instructors, adding that we need doctors to be well trained as such training courses help to decrease the mortality rate among pilgrims thronging Amarnath shrine.
Most of the people in the valley die due to accidental injuries if we have a knowledge how to deal with such cases we can surely save the lives of many people, such training courses inculcate a sense of responsibility to save the lives of people”, Dr. Saleem Ur Rehman added.
Tanu a representative from Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, GoI was also present on the occasion. “We have launched the skill-based programmes in Seventeen states across the country and J&K the 2nd state after Karnataka to implement such training programmes, all the states are coming up adding these training courses”.
It is basic and not a high-level skilled training and will help people to make themselves aware of simple things to save more and more lives, she added.
AIIMS faculty Dr. Piyush Ranjan, Neeraj Kumar, Sarika along with Divisional First Responder Instructors Dr. Arshad Rafi, Dr Ijtaba Shafi, Dr Ajaz Ahmad, Shafi Shah and Farhana Fayaz imparted the training.The training will continue to be a norm and anybody who is interested can participate by registering themselves on the official website.
