Doda district to have revised Skill Development Plan in place for its youth

Doda: District Development Commissioner, Vishesh Mahajan, who is also Chairman of the District Skill Committee (DSC), chaired a meeting to discuss the rollout of the revised Skill Development Plan.

Mahatma Gandhi National Fellow for District Doda, Manujinder Singh presented a detailed report on objectives and a plan of action for skill up-gradation and handholding of skilled youth. He also informed me that the Domestic Data Entry Operator course has recently started at ITI Doda under Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY).

The Chairman emphasized devising agro-based courses for the desirous youth of the district. He said that agro-based skills shall give necessary skills to female aspirants, which in turn augment the rural economy and give them better opportunities to add to their earnings.

The DSC decided that Chief Agriculture Officer, Chief Horticulture Officer, and other stakeholders shall identify and plan out training programs in agro-based skills. Deputy Director of Employment Doda shall be overall in charge of the skill development plan in the district. Rural Self Employment Training Institute (RSETI) shall also provide training in fields having market demand, both on-campus and online to give desired skills to the maximum number of people.

The meeting was attended by district officers including the Chief Executive Officer of BDA; Deputy Director of Employment; Chief Agriculture Officer; Chief Horticulture Officer; District Social Welfare Officer; District Informatics Officer; Chief Education Officer; Lead District Manager; Principal Polytechnic College; Superintendent ITI; Lead District Manager; Director RSETI and other concerned.
