Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti today hailed the joint initiative launched by FTII Pune and DIPR to conduct skill development courses in television production and film making for the state’s youth.
The chief minister assured full support of the state government for carrying forward this initiative, an official spokesperson said after a meeting between Mufti and Director Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) Bhupendra Kainthola.
The state government will provide whatever support is needed to carry forward this innovative and creative initiative, Mufti told Kainthola.
Thanking Kainthola for sending his faculty from Pune to impart training to the youth, the chief minister showed keen interest in having a regional centre of the FTII in J-K in view of the interest of local youth in filmmaking and television production.
She said the state government will take up the matter regarding setting up of FTII regional centre in J-K with the Union minister for Information and Broadcasting.
The chief minister said such training programmes would not only help the state groom professionals in the field of TV production and film making, but also open up vast career opportunities for the local youth in the related field.
Kainthola briefed the chief minister about the initiatives taken by the FTII Pune in collaboration with the Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR), J-K to organise a series of specialised training courses for media professionals in the state to harness their creative talent.
