Higher Education Secretary laid stress for introducing skill development courses in colleges

Jammu : Secretary to Higher Education Department, Talat Parvez Rohella on Friday laid stress for introducing skill development courses in the colleges.

Chairing a meeting of all the principals of Jammu Division Colleges at GGM Science College, Jammu, Rohella stressed on the introduction of skill development courses in the colleges. He focused on the need to open employment scenario by enrolling the students on J&K employment portal. He impressed upon various strategies to improve the quality of education by introducing the concept of community college, IIT related partnerships, Industry Four, ERP, Digital Marketing etc. Further, he directed the principals to improve the quality of education by imparting online lectures, MOOC, SWAYAM and faculty improvement courses.

It was the second meeting after his taking over as Secretary, Department of Higher Education along with Director RUSA, Director Planning, Director Colleges, Higher Education Department, Dr Yaseen Ahmad Shah, Chief Account Officer, Higher Education Department and other officers from the Higher Education Department.

In the start of meeting, review of RUSA Colleges was undertaken. The Secretary expressed satisfaction over the progression made by the colleges on various parameters. Secretary heard various problems faced by the principals and on the spot instructions were issued to resolve these problems. Several new projects were also approved in the meeting and stress was laid on early completion of the ongoing project for which adequate funds were allocated.
