J&K Skill Development Mission to organize 1st edition of TALAASH -Skill & Entrepreneurship Conclave

Srinagar : J&K Skill Development Mission (JKSDM) is organizing 1st TALAASH -Skill & Entrepreneurship Conclave on 12th, 13th & 14th May 2018 at Srinagar. The 3-day conclave themed ‘Building Human Capital: Skill-Innovation-Entrepreneurship’ is aimed at engaging around 400 skill development stakeholders including senior state and government of India functionaries, officials of National Skill Development Agency (NSDA), National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), Directors of various Sector Skill Councils, innovators, entrepreneurs, artisans, business leaders, intellectuals & civil society actors to different aspects of skill development, grassroots entrepreneurship and innovations development.

Skill development and entrepreneurship are seen as the main driving forces for promoting development and employment generation in the state which is facing huge unemployment problem.

“The conclave presents an excellent opportunity of networking and knowledge sharing for corporate/business houses, entrepreneurs, skilled professionals and government departments and an active participation will ensure that our efforts and policies for the development of the youth are synchronized and result-oriented”, said Minister of IT, Technical & Higher Education & Chairman, Governing Council, JKSDM Molvi Imran Raza Ansari.

Elaborating the details of the program, Mission Director, J&K Skill Development Mission Peer G N Suhail said, “Apart from technical sessions on skill development, innovation & entrepreneurship in India, the conclave will also focus on building linkages between local young entrepreneurs and innovators with the outside market.”

Stressing on the need to organize the conclave Suhail said, “The conclave will bring all the skill development stakeholders at one place to have a confluence of ideas and action,” adding the conclave would lead to sharing of vision and strategies instrumental in working out a roadmap for skill, innovation and entrepreneurship development in the state, read a handout issued here on Tuesday.

Appreciating the initiative of JKSDM, President, Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Jammu, Rakesh Gupta said, “The need of the hour is to look for options other than existing job market and for that we need to sit together and chart out the future plan of action so that our youth get opportunities to excel and ‘TALAASH Conclave presents an opportunity in this direction.”

The conclave will also include the felicitation and the valedictory ceremony of the winners of the India Skills Competition, J&K, 2018, who will proceed further to participate in the regional level skill competition to be held in the last week of May 2018 at Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. Over 700 candidates have registered for participating in the skill competitions, the handout added.
