Ranchi : During a meeting with senior officials of Jharkhand Skill Development Mission Society (JSDMS), Chief Minister Raghubar Das said that the State government will give employment to over one lakh youths trained in different trades covered under skill development scheme this year focusing on the six districts of the State.
The Chief Minister directed the officers to establish skill development centres in the backward districts by starting the course-curriculum, ensuring placements of Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs), Polytechnic and Engineering colleges’ students in a bid to increase the Gross Enrollment Ratio (GER) at technical institutions. Government subsidy will also be given to students pursuing courses in private ITI, Polytechnic and Engineering colleges, assured the Chief Minister.
Human resource is the most valuable assets and the State government is investing on scaling up the talents of youths for better tomorrow. “By giving training to youths in their selected trades and providing employment, the living standards of such youths will be changed which will bring prosperity to Jharkhand,” the CM added.
The Chief Minister said that skill development centres in the selected backward districts of the State will be opened in tribal dominated areas. There will also be residential facility at these centres.
A batch will be of 100 boys and 100 girls. In a year, one lakh students will be given training linking them with constructive jobs. Utilizing the resources, Skill Development centers will be opened in such government buildings that are not in use now. Considering the requirement of industry, programme of study will be industry-integrated covering all latest development.
In an attempt to reduce the crisis of trained nursing staffs, a nursing college will be opened in Pakur besides, giving health training to ANMs. In addition, training in textile and apparel designing will also be imparted among the students.
On the occasion of World Youth Skills Day, from July 15 this year, placement drive of students will begin. By the end of the year – 2018, one lakh trained youths will be given employment.
During the meeting, Secretary – Department of Higher, technical and Skill Development Ajoy Kumar Singh said that the Bill for setting up Skill Development University will be brought in the monsoon session for approval.
“Over 600 ANMs are being trained. As many as 1.02 lakh people were trained by the Department of Skill Development last year. West Singhbhum got the first position for promoting Skill Development in the country while Lohardaga was at seventh position. Agreements have been signed with various agencies to promote placement in polytechnics colleges, ITIs and engineering institutions,” Singh added.
Chief Secretary Sudhir Tripathy, Principal Secretary, Health and Family Welfare, Nidhi Khare, Principal Secretary to CM Sunil Kumar Barnwal, Principal Secretary, Department of Rural Development, Avinash Kumar, Secretary Welfare Department, Himani Pandey, Director (Industry) K Ravikumar and others were present during the meeting.
