Ranchi : Jharkhand has embarked on a sikho aur kamao (learn and earn) mission by setting up skill development centres across the state.
Chief minister Raghubar Das, who inspected two skill development centres at separate locations here, said sikho aur kamao was a vital cog in the government’s effort to eradicate poverty and unemployment.
“The government’s mission to eradicate poverty and unemployment in the state in the next few years will be possible through the mission sikho aur kamao. The centres would provide trained human resources for the industrial houses which would set base in the state. The centres would not only provide jobs but also create self-employment opportunities,” said Das.
Das inspected the Venture Skill Development Centre at Kanke Road and interacted with trainees who are receiving training in automobile repair, maintenance and servicing. Later in the day, Das also inspected CMC Skill Private Limited special purpose vehicle Mitcon Center on Ring Road and interacted with trainees in the construction sector.
“The skill development centres have attained 64 per cent job placements which is credible. We will be organizing a mega Skill Summit 2018 on January 12 to mark the National Youth Day which would provide a platform for job placement for nearly 25,000 trained human resources. Similar skill summits would be held every alternate year after the global investors’ summit and provide jobs to nearly a lakh,” said Das.
The chief minister said the government also has plans to provide training to members of BPL families. “A survey is being conducted to find out the numbers of BPL families in the state,” added Das.
The chief minister was accompanied during inspection of the skill development centers by chief secretary Rajbala Verma, secretary state higher technical education and skill development, Ajoy Kumar Singh and CEO Jharkhand Skill Development Mission Society, Amar Nath Jha.
