Dhanbad : The newly established Binod Bihari Mahto Koylanchal University (BBMKU) with the help of Mumbai-based Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) will soon launch skill development centres in all its 48 colleges across Dhanbad and Bokaro.
A team of TISS will visit Dhanbad on December 9 during which they will hold a meeting with BBMKU vice-chancellor Dharmendra Kumar Singh and other college principals.
Tata Institute of Social Sciences launched National University Student’ Skill Development Programme (NUSSD) as a pilot project in 2013. Currently skill development training is being imparted in 11 universities across the country.
The skill development programme aims at increasing employability chances among university students by imparting knowledge and skills in cutting-edge learning methods and also providing practical experience through internships and community projects. “There will also be a well-equipped computer laboratory and a central research facility that would also come up in all the colleges under the varsity. There would be at least 20-22 computers with Internet connection in each laboratory,” said BBMKU vice-chancellor Singh, who is also the director of the BIT-Sindri.
“Each of the colleges will also be equipped with at least one smart class to enable students attend lectures through videoconferencing. We also plan to sign MoUs with top national and international universities,” said Singh.
