Centre of Excellence launched in agri and allied sector

NSDC has recently launched a Centre of Excellence (CoE) for Aromatic and Medicinal Plants promotion and processing, as well as a Women Empowerment Centre in Jharkhand.

The launch took place in the presence of the Honourable Governor of Jharkhand, CP Radhakrishnan. The centre aims to provide skill training, entrepreneurial training, market linkages and technology leverage to the tribal population, particularly women, to expand their livelihood opportunities in the region.

The certification ceremony was held to recognize and validate the skills of over 480 candidates who successfully completed the upskilling training program. The initiative also includes creating and conceptualizing skill training courses in accordance with the educational needs of tribal women and industry demands.

NSDC CEO, Shri Ved M. Tiwari, expressed his happiness in promoting the ‘Singi Dai Van Vigyan Kendra’ to provide livelihood opportunities to those residing in tribal communities of the country.

The aim is to include agri and allied sectors with technology integration for Skill Development to boost the rural economy, increase household income levels and prevent job-related out migration.

NSDC’s upskilling certification efforts with Recognition of Prior Learning programs will help identify, validate, and recognize artisans’ and skilled labours’ marketable skills, enhancing individual opportunities for their sustainable future.
