State shines in District Skill Development Plan under SANKALP

Ranchi : According to the final results of the Skill Acquisition and Knowledge Awareness for Livelihood Programme (SANKALP), six districts of Jharkhand have been awarded for excellent performance and implementation. The results were announced by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India.

Godda has received the award of excellence where as Giridih and Gumla have been awarded the certificate of excellence. Chatra, Koderma and Simdega have been given the letters of appreciation. The results included 20 districts from across the country.

The programme was started to improve the institutional capability across India and to ensure quality oriented training for the youths of the country SANKALP has been funded by the World Bank.

With the start of the programme in June 2018, the Ministry had announced award of excellence, certificate of excellence for those districts, which had formulated the District Skill Development Plan to operate, monitor and decentralise the project at the district level.

A total of 225 districts from across the country had submitted their report to the Ministry.

After reviewing the report at various levels of the Ministry has selected six districts of Jharkhand out of 25 leading districts of the Country in terms of better implementation of the project.

After the first round, the Deputy Commissioners of all these districts were given a presentation of the implementation of the project on July 22- 23, 2019. After announcement of final results the Ministry has issued a letter to Godda district administration and Jharkhand Government.

The district has also been selected by the Ministry for a tour of the representatives of Seol from South Korea from September 30 to October 3. Representatives of Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India, National Skill Development Corporation, State Governments and Sector Skill Council will be part of the delegation.

The visit will be organised by World Bank to study South Korea’s Skill Development programmes and to experience, global scenario, competition in skill development and business education.

With six districts of the State winning, all subsidiary institution of Skill Development Mission Society and Skill Development Programme are charged. Principal Secretary, Higher Technical Education said that through these six districts skill development will get a broader form. In these districts the project will be developed as a model and implemented across the State.
