Jamshedpur: Chief Secretary Rajbala Verma on Friday said it was time to reap the benefits of the state government’s technical education and skill development policies.
The top bureaucrat said the state was making rapid progress in industrial development and people setting up industries in Jharkhand no longer needed to hire youths from outside.
Addressing the Employers’ Conclave organized by Jharkhand Skill Development Mission Society at Hotel Rajwada in Bistupur, Verma said the government had earmarked Rs 700 crore to promote skill development and sanctioned the setting up of 105 industrial technical institutes and polytechnics in the current fiscal.
“We had organized the global investors’ summit in Ranchi to woo investors from the country and abroad followed by the ground-breaking ceremony for MoUs in the state capital and Jamshedpur. We had fixed a target of attracting investments worth over Rs 2 lakh crore and we are making progress in that direction,” Verma told journalists.
Others who attended the meet included Jharkhand Skill Development Mission Society CEO Amar Jha and director Rajiv Ranjan and higher technical education and skill development director Ajay Kumar Singh.
Representatives from various industrial units and corporate houses and trainees of technical institutions also attended the conclave.
The chief secretary later flagged off two vans belonging to the Furniture and Fittings Skill Council. The vans, equipped with advanced carpentry tools, left for Hazaribagh district.
Bhavesh Kumar, the executive officer of the council which is part of the National Skill Development Mission said, “We will go to Hazaribagh and other districts and provide skill training to youths which will help them get jobs or even start their own business.”
