Srinagar : Directorate of Health Services Kashmir (DHSK) has achieved yet another feat as Kashmir Skills & Simulation Centre (KSSC) – Trauma and Emergency Management programme was adjudged on Friday as one of the best practice at 4th National Summit on Good, Replicable and Innovative Practices in Public Healthcare System in India, held in Indore, MP.
The event is being organized by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India. The establishment of KSSC has been shortlisted as one of the best practices in the country among the three best practices from J&K by Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, GoI, the official statement issued here said adding this achievement has brought immense laurels to the state and DHSK at national level.
“The other two best practices that were selected from Jammu and Kashmir State included (i) Role of Facility Based Newborn Care in reducing IMR in the State, and (ii) Screening and Orientation of ASHAs on NCDs,” it said.
On the occasion, Director Health Services, Kashmir Dr Saleem ur Rehman deliberated upon the process of establishment and significance in terms of outcomes and impact of KSSC on healthcare and the future plans ahead in upgrading the centre.
The Director apprised the dignitaries that KSSC is first of its kind simulation centre in public sector across country and has been visited and appreciated by various national and international dignitaries. “The centre has been conducting various medical emergency modules on modern simulation methodology since 2013 and till now the centre has trained more than 7000 persons for Basic Life Support, 651 doctors in Emergency Room Trauma Course (ERTC) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and more than 1100 in High Altitude Medical Emergency besides conducting various CMEs and skill development and capacity building workshops for the health personnel working under DHSK.”
Commissioner secretaries and directors of various health departments of other states have appreciated the efforts put in by DHSK in establishing the centre and have apprised about deputing their teams to KSSC so as to replicate the same in their own states for better patient care, the statement said.
