Thiruvananthapuram : Kudumbashree will provide skill training to 12,000 youths in 93 urban centres across the State under the third phase of its ‘Employment through skill training and placement’ programme.
A press release issued here said the free training will be provided in 54 courses through 35 skill training agencies with which Kudumbashree has entered into an agreement as part of the National Urban Livelihoods Mission (NULM) being implemented by it in the State. Of the 12,000 youths, 5,300 will be given residential training, with free food and accommodation.
The skill training is given to economically backward youths in urban areas. So far, 16000 have been given training since 2016 when Kudumbashree launched the programme. The training is given in areas such as information technology, telecom, tourism, accounting, Ayurveda, electronics.

The courses, from three months to eight months, are offered to those studying in class 8 to pursuing their undergraduation.
Certificates by the National Skill Development Corporation will be given at the end. Kudumbashree executive director Harikishore S. launched the programme. Its director Asha Varghese presided.
