Jammu : Indian Army in Jammu and Kashmir regularly conducts various skill development awareness drives for overall development of civil society. A lecture on Skill Development courses by Modular Employable Skills conducted by Army on 16 May 2016 at Lower Krishna Ghati.
The lecture aimed at development of indigenous entrepreneurship from all walks of life for developing new micro and small enterprises, enlarging the entrepreneurial base and encouraging self employment in rural as well as urban areas, by providing training to youth. It is also visualized that in the long run, the skilled youth of J&K will empower the “Make in India” initiative of the Government of India and join the main stream of development.The district of Poonch will be the first beneficiary of the six skill development courses such as Hand Embroidery, Motor Driving cum Vehicle Mechanic, Plumbing, Carpentry, Computer and Farming courses. These courses have been short listed after a deliberate study of demography of Poonch district. All these courses are planned to run in a phased manner over a period of one year in collaboration with various State Government departments.
The locals of the area applauded the initiative and selfless service being rendered by the Indian Army to educate the local populace of this area and help in development of skills. They also poured appreciation and extended their indebtedness to the Army for counseling them on such an important topic.
